Brantford Optometry Office Gets Grant to Improve Accessibility for Patients with Disabilities

A Brantford Optometry Office has received $50,000 from the federal government to improve accessibility for patients with disabilities.
“I am excited to deliver this news,” said Brant MP, Phil McColeman. “It’s so important that our communities improve accessibility for people with disabilities and that our Government assist our local businesses in making that happen.”
McColeman announced the funding today for the optometry office of Szak, Bobor, Wilson, Georgeff & Balcarras Berg. The office will use the money to install an elevator, expected to be completed by spring.
“It’s going to make it more convenient for seniors and it will allow people in wheelchairs access to the instrumentation on our second floor,” said Dr. Paul Szak.
Szak said he “was pleasantly surprised” to receive the grant after making application to the federal government’s Enabling Accessibility Fund. The fund is part of a $45 million, three year commitment to expand opportunities for people with disabilities.
