MP Phil McColeman Announces Federal Funding For Manufacturing Sector

– Brant MP, Phil McColeman, announced today $275,000 dollars in federal funding for a local manufacturing company. John G. Wilson Machine Ltd. received the money to expand current operations which will lead to future employment opportunities.

“The Federal Government continues to make direct investments in our community, providing a boost to our local economy,” said McColeman. “This grant will support John G.Wilson Machine in its efforts to grow and provide future employment for residents of Brant.”

Company President, Bruce Seeley, says the 56 year old company plans on hiring 150 new employees over the next five years. He says the federal funding “certainly helps us to accelerate our expansion plans” and transform the current business so that it is better able to “support innovative and technology based products.”
John G. Wilson Machine Ltd. specializes in short run, tight tolerance CNC machining and metal forming. The company received the federal grant after making application to the federal government’s Southern Ontario Development Program (SODP).

The SODP is just one in a series of initiatives introduced in the Government of Canada’s Economic Action Plan. The program is designed to build on the assets and strengths of communities to create an environment where businesses can thrive and to maximize Southern Ontario’s potential to succeed in the knowledge –based economy.
