Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament for Brant, issued the following statement today on the death of Brantford native, Trooper Larry John Zuidema Rudd, the latest Canadian Soldier to be killed in Afghanistan.
“It is with deep sadness that I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Trooper Larry John Zuidema Rudd, who was killed in Afghanistan on Monday, by an improvised explosive device. Our community is united in its grief, as we mourn the loss of this brave and courageous soldier. Trooper Rudd will not be forgotten and his commitment and sacrifice will remain a great source of pride for all Canadians.
Trooper Rudd was a member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons and served with the 1st Battalion of The Royal Canadian Regiment, based in Petawawa, Ontario.
