June 25, 2010
(Brant) – The Government of Canada is creating 100 jobs for students in Brant this summer by supporting 81 employers through the Canada Summer Jobs program. “This year, more employers are being supported in Brant and more summer jobs are being created,” said Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament for Brant. “In 2009, the same program created 96 jobs by supporting 75 employers.” Through the 2010 Canada Summer Jobs Program, the federal government has invested $300,823 into Brant. The program is designed to encourage not-for-profit organizations, public sector and small business employers to create jobs that meet their needs and benefit students looking to gain valuable work experience. “Our Government is providing students with opportunities that will help them to develop the necessary skills for today’s competitive job market,” said Mr. McColeman.
