The Canadian Pork Producers hosted a widely attended Pork BBQ on Parliament Hill Wednesday in an effort to show how safe it was to eat Canadian Pork.
Canadian pork is safe. The international scientific community, including the OIE and WHO, agree that pork is safe.  Canadian Agriculture Minister Ritz has spoken to American Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and has been assured that Canadian pork will continue to have access to the American market.  We will continue to reaffirm to our international trading partners that Canadian pork is safe.  This Government will continue to work closely with Canadian pork producers to make sure they receive the support they need.
