June 29, 2009
(St. George) June 29, 2009 – The St. George Firefighters’ Association is receiving a $10,000 grant from the federal government’s Celebrate Canada Fund. The grant is being put towards this year’s Canada Day celebrations in St. George including the fireworks display, pancake breakfast, poster contest and town decorating. “We’re very appreciative of this funding by the federal government,” said Dr. Willem Bouma representing the St. George Firefighters’ Association. “It allows us to put on a great show.” Canadian Heritage provides financial support for activities organized during the Celebrate Canada period, from June 21st to July 1st. These activities celebrate HYPERLINK "http://www.pch.gc.ca/special/canada/11/jna-nad-eng.cfm" National Aboriginal Day, on June 21st, HYPERLINK "http://www.pch.gc.ca/special/canada/11/baptiste-eng.cfm" Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24th, HYPERLINK "http://www.pch.gc.ca/special/canada/11/multi-eng.cfm" Canadian Multiculturalism Day on June 27th and HYPERLINK "http://www.pch.gc.ca/special/canada/11/canada-eng.cfm" Canada Day on July 1st. “Let’s take some time July 1st to really celebrate just how wonderful a country this is,” said Brant MP Phil McColeman. “Happy Canada Day.” For further comment: Phil McColeman Member of Parliament – Brant 519-754-4300 |
