Burford, Ontario - Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament for Brant, and the Planning Committee for Hockey Night in Brantford 2012 – The Homecoming Game – announced an exciting addition to this year’s all-star roster at the Burford Community Centre this morning.
On the heels of an incredible performance in the NHL’s 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs with the Eastern Conference Champion New Jersey Devils, McColeman announced that budding NHL superstar and 2012 NHL Rookie of the Year finalist Adam Henrique will play in the Homecoming Game on August 15 in Brantford.
"This is great news for our entire community," said Brant MP Phil McColeman. "Hockey fans from across the Brant riding rallied behind Adam during this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs and now they will have a unique opportunity to pay tribute to his enormous success. We are thrilled to have him participating"
"It's going to be quite special to have him back at the Gretzky Centre, playing in front of a hometown crowd that could not be more proud of his tremendous accomplishments."
From the family farm outside of Burford to professional hockey's most iconic stage in just a few short years, Adam Henrique's hockey career has been a whirlwind.
He proved himself as an elite player during back-to-back Memorial Cup Championship seasons with the Windsor Spitfires and a memorable run with team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship before making the leap to the NHL. He excelled during a remarkable rookie season, finishing with 51 points and being named one of three Calder Trophy finalists before taking his team to the Stanley Cup Finals with an unforgettable overtime goal in Game 6 versus the New York Rangers.
Adam's small town charm and humility has blended with his ability to play at an elite level on the most competitive stages in international sports to make him an instant fan favourite and a storybook NHL success.
