Brantford Senior’s Resource Centre Receives $15, 450 in Federal Funding
January 06, 2010

(Brantford)
– Brant MP, Phil McColeman, announced $15, 450.00 in federal funding today for the Brantford Senior’s Resource Centre.

“Our seniors play a valuable role in society,” said McColeman. “It is important that our Government recognize their contributions and provide support for programs that help them remain active in our communities.”

“We are pleased that the Federal Government continues to fund senior’s issues,” says Chuck Giles of the Brantford Senior Resource Centre. “It’s the only stable form of funding for senior’s programming.”

The Resource Centre is a not-for-profit organization that provides senior citizens with support programs and assistance.  Giles says the Centre helps seniors with everything from completing government forms for prescription drug programs to choosing long-term care facilities. “These programs save people’s lives,” he said. “They give seniors access to the tools they need to manage their lives.”

Today’s funding announcement falls under the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. To date, more than 5,500 projects have been funded under the Program since its inception in 2004.
