February 21, 2012

BRANTFORD, ONTARIO – The Government of Canada is investing in a project that will breathe new life into a manufacturing business by creating jobs. Member of Parliament Phil McColeman (Brant), on behalf of Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, announced today an investment of up to $250,000 to Advanced Machining Inc.

“Our Government’s top priority remains the economy, and small businesses are a crucial part of our economic growth,” said MP McColeman. “This investment will help this company create jobs in our community and increase sales, helping to boost economic activity in the region.”

Advanced Machining Inc. has been in business since 1991. They manufacture parts and prototypes and do machining for a variety of industries in the area. This project will help an employee purchase the shop from its current owners. Under new management initiatives, the business will increase its sales and subcontracts to local operations and manufacture new and diverse products to meet the needs of clients throughout the region. Advanced Machining will maintain 6 jobs and create an additional 2 manufacturing jobs with the potential to create more in the future.

“The Sand Plains loan was the reason we were able to purchase this building,” said Duong Thai, owner of Advanced Machining Inc. “We will bring skilled trade jobs to the area, increase sales, and come up with new and diverse products to meet the needs of our clients.”

This capital loan is being provided through the Sand Plains Community Development Fund administered by the Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations. The fund targets community-based initiatives that support regional development, attract and retain people and investment, and stimulate business development and job creation.
