(Ottawa) – Brant MP, Phil McColeman, has announced $10,000 in federal funding for Celebrate Canada festivities in Brantford. Mr. McColeman made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
“The Celebrate Canada festivities that culminate with Canada Day have become a wonderful tradition in this country,” said Mr. McColeman. “This funding will provide the Brantford community with an opportunity to truly celebrate our country’s heritage.”
The City of Brantford will celebrate Canada Day with a series of activities including a Citizenship Ceremony and Citizen Court.
Federal funding for Canada Day celebrations is provided through the Celebrate Canada component of the Celebrations and Commemorations Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. Celebrate Canada festivities begin on June 21, 2011 and conclude on July 1, 2011. In addition to Canada Day, they include National Aboriginal Day on June 21, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24, and Canadian Multiculturalism Day on June 27, 2011.
