Government of Canada Supports National Aboriginal Day Festivities in Hagersville

(Hagersville) – The Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation is receiving $2000 from the federal government to help celebrate National Aboriginal Day on June 21, 2010. Brant MP, Phil McColeman, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

“National Aboriginal Day is a wonderful opportunity for First Nations to celebrate their culture and heritage,” said Mr. McColeman.
Approximately 200 people will participate in activities that include drumming, storytelling, dancing and family games.

Federal funding for National Aboriginal Day celebrations is provided through the Celebrate Canada component of the Celebrations and Commemorations Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage.
