November 19, 2010

(Brantford, ON) - The Brant Museums Social Marketing Project is getting some help from the federal government. Brant MP, Phil McColeman, today announced $19,000 for the project which is a marketing partnership between the Brant Historical Society, Bell Homestead National Historic Site, Chiefswood National Historic Site and the Woodland Cultural Centre.

“Museums are places where we learn and discover,” said Mr. McColeman. “This project is important because it will raise awareness, draw new audiences and increase our understanding of the valuable role that museums play in our community.”

“Raising the profile of our museums and promoting the value of our institutions in the community is important as we work toward creating greater opportunities for community involvement and dialogue,” said Joan Kanigan, Executive Director, Brant Historical Society. “The Brant Museums Social Marketing Project is an exciting project because it affords us the opportunity to promote a positive social message about our museums and the contributions we make to our community.”

The funding is provided by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canada Cultural Investment Fund. Over the long-term, projects supported through the Canada Cultural Investment Fund are intended to contribute to the organizational, administrative and financial health of arts and heritage organizations.
