McColeman Hosts Community Public Safety Roundtable

(Brantford, Ontario) — Brant Community leaders were invited to talk about safety and security today at a roundtable discussion hosted by Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament for Brant and Dave MacKenzie, Member of Parliament for Oxford and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety.

“The government’s most important duty is to ensure the safety and security of all Canadians,” said Mr. McColeman.  “Today, we wanted to hear from our local community leaders about the issues that are most important to them.”
Today`s Public Safety Roundtable included Brantford Mayor, Chris Friel, Brant County Mayor, Ron Eddy,  Brantford Acting Police Chief, Jeff Kellnor, Canada Fights Human Trafficking Founder, Naomi Baker, as well as Councillors from the City of Brantford and Brant County, and representatives from Victim Services, Crime Stoppers and Six Nations.
“`The Harper Government is committed to making our streets and communities safer,” said Mr. MacKenzie.  “Since forming government, we have added more police in our streets, increased security at the border and introduced key legislation to give police and prosecutors the tools they need to keep dangerous criminals off our streets and better protect children from sexual offenders.”

Today’s Roundtable was held in conjunction with Pink Shirt Day. Mr. McColeman and Mr. MacKenzie, along with others, wore pink shirts in support of the world-wide Anti-Bullying Campaign, organized at the local level by the Boys and Girls Club of Brantford and Brantford Galaxy Soccer Club.
